The dialogue of the prequels, in particular the "love" story of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala, was as bad as writing gets. So wooden and yet so cliche at the same time...

"I truly, deeply love you"?
"I can't breathe."??
"I wish I could just wish my feelings away."???

Good god, anyone with an emotional age beyond 12 could write those lines better and with more genuine emotion for the actors to work with...

But that was an eye opening look at just how close the world came to a world without Star Wars as "STAR WARS!!!!" and how a generation like me very nearly came to having something other than action figures, bed sheets and lunchboxes festooned with Lucas images and making him billions in the process!!!
