Alexa isn't all that new...

40 years ago I remember a bunch of us getting drunk or high and going to my school's computer center to play "star trek" (in ascii characters on a CRT) or having drunken conversations with and early AI program named "Eliza" ( which would typically ask a question related to the question or comment you typed at it).

Jones has met his intellectual equal!
