My cats love me and always will. I love them, and always will. My cats greet me when I come home, and want to be loved before they ask for food. I don't find the timeworn meme of the vindictiveness and hatred of cats amusing in the least. Anti-cat jokes are much like wife jokes, and mother-in-law jokes. and Pollack jokes.

I love dogs, but can't abide a cat-hating dog-lover. Based on pure ignorance. I know more than one cat-hater who was converted upon actually getting to know one loving cat. But it is true that cats are better at surviving on their own than dogs are. One of the reasons I respect them.

re: cats is astounding. Half of Europe was wiped out in the Middle Ages because the exploding rodent population spread Bubonic Plague after the population killed off cats because they thought they were demons. Sometimes ignorance IS deadly.
