In Syria, the government's reportedly massing tens of thousands of troops, and columns of tanks around the commercial capital, Aleppo. The government's already pushed the last rebel forces from the capital, Damascus after 3 weeks of fighting there. As both sides rally reinforcements, large numbers of Al-Qaeda linked fighters are reportedly bolstering the opposition's ranks. And these groups are being supported by the US despite their extreme views and intentions.

(6,045 posts)RT...Putin's propaganda arm within the USA is reporting that the USA is supporting "large numbers of Al-Qaeda linked fighters".
Putin & the Chinese are doing EVERYTHING they can to insure there will be no chance of Syria becoming a democracy regardless of how many women, children & old men civilians are slaughtered!
Sorry, but I will not support the Syrian dictatorship or shy away from saying we should help the Syrians...The Syrian regime was killing women & children long before the opposition got firearms. Matter of FACT what made so many in Syria mad enough to finally risk their lives was the torture & killing of some children who were caught by the regime spray painting anti-Assad graffiti on walls. And it was not until some of the Syrian Army began defecting did the opposition finally start using firearms, etc., Regardless, if our government was doing the same thing, killing children for spray painting anti-government graffiti, then I doubt many here would remain silent & I doubt many would oppose using force to oppose such actions by our government.
I am not for USA boots on the ground in Syria but I for a united front via the UN doing something to get rid of the Assad regime. If the government that emerges after Assad is gone is anti-USA then we will just have to work with them until they trust us because we a past in that area of the world to make right...And helping the Syrian people get out from under such an EVIL REGIME would probably go a long way in showing we have changed. Standing around watching the Syrian people be systematically slaughtered won't help anything!
If the Syrian people want a shot at democracy then they should be allowed to have that chance. IMHO.
