In an attempt to cover up the fact that Gen. John Kelly made up a completely false story about Rep. Frederica Wilson, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that it was ok for Kelly to lie because it is what he felt. This is eerily similar to an episode of Seinfeld in which George Costanza explains to Jerry how he is able to lie so well, as Ring of Fires Farron Cousins explains.

And then, of course, there's Sarah "Huckster" Sanders, who wouldn't know the truth if it walked up and bit her on the ass.

(11,087 posts)In order to do her job, lie to the press day after day, she must repeat something like this to herself all the time: "Sarah, it's not a lie if you believe it. You just gotta make yourself believe it. C'mon, believe it! Then Tinkerbell will live."

(45,454 posts)they convince themselves to truly believe it is true, then their words sound more genuine and convincing because they would feel more confident delivering what they previously knew to be pure BS.
Televangelists do this. All sorts of con artists do this.

(5,106 posts)She's just a very poor speaker. Monotonal, very little inflection; sounds as if she were a student who was OK at reading and memorizing, but had zero enthusiasm. Even so she wanted those high grades and high regard from the teacher and was a great suck-up.

(5,954 posts)I hope Trump keeps her for a LONG time! She's almost as clueless and inarticulate as Trump himself. So, she's a good spox for him. But she also throws in a big of cockeyed sarcasm, which always goes over like a lead balloon.
Watching her give a press conference is like watching Will Sasso from MAD TV do his Kenny Rogers impersonation.
