Yes, Chicago has very strict gun laws which do NOTHING to prevent gun violence as long as people can get guns in boxes of CRACKERJACKS in Texas and Georgia, and then RE-SELL them to f-ing CROOKS in Chicago. GET IT?
The fact that Chicago has strict gun laws, and that those gun laws do nothing to prevent gun violence DOES NOT prove that gun laws are useless. It proves that GUN LAWS AT THE STATE LEVEL are useless!
From the limited data we're ALLOWED to collect (ie-the GOP Congress has made it illegal for the ATF or HHS to collect any statistics on gun violence), we know that most of the gun crimes that are committed in New York and Chicago are committed with guns that were purchased in Georgia, Texas, or Arizona. In fact, most of them come from only five or so gunstores in those places. They're purchased in Georgia by straw purchasers, driven across state borders (which are obviously not guarded) and sold to gang bangers and drug dealers in New York and Chicago. This is EXACTLY the type of situation that requires FEDERAL laws. And yet the gun lobby has managed to turn the Federal Government into a boogeyman that should not be allowed to make any gun laws whatsoever. That's the narrative we have to fight against.
