They do it all the time: take something away from one group, then put them at odds with a different group that hasn't had something taken away.

It's a variation on the "why should aMcD employee get $15 an hour when a (fill in the blank) only gets $14?"

Of course, the answer is they should both get $15, just like military people should get their viagra and/or their gender reassignment treatment.
