Some promote a warped hateful message disguised as Judeo-Christian tradition instead of a message of love. I was raised on country western and gospel music.

While I don't care for a lot of country music, I actually had tapes of some of the old timers, like Hank Williams Sr, Patsy Cline, etc. And who doesn't like Reba McIntyre & Loretta Lynn?

It was unusual that country music accepted a black man in their ranks. They had also accepted the different K D Lang, until she came out as gay, then that was over. She hasn't done much lately. Such a beautiful voice...I wonder why she doesn't record anymore?

I have their music on CD. I can't resist sharing one of my favs.

As for K D Lang, I am not sure why she is not performing in the US. She is touring Australia and performs often in Canada.

6. I think of Whitney Houston as the "Patsy Cline" of her music genre...

You are RIGHT! She was a great TALENT. I can still hear her voice crooning Sweet Dreams in that understated, mesmerizing voice of hers. Patsy Cline will never be forgotten...

ability to climb to the top of the country music artists list and to stay there for so very long! I know he may have faced a lot of resistance early in his career...
