4. This kind of thing turned me away from religion, period.

All kinds, all venues. Almost all religions do something of this; mormons, mennonites, hutterites, islamists, and various old order jewish sects do this, too. I find it more than irritating, and that the man counselled a woman to give her child to the church (f*** that noise) and counselled women in his flock against abortion, demanding that they bear the child.
