(22,380 posts)I loved it, because I like him so much and wanted to know more about what his roots are. Then I had the opportunity to go to Johannesburg, his home town, and Cape Town, where he also spent time with his father, and immediately re-read it with greater insight and understanding.
A wonderful story of how he was raised and he tells it with heart and with insight.

(26,648 posts)after watching the tape, and will see if I can get it from the library.. I do love his show.
In the 60's, I had a good friend in high school who was from South Africa. She was a wonderful girl, spoke just like Trevor. I lost contact years ago. Wish we had stayed in touch.

(2,671 posts)I was dubious when he took over for Jon Stewart because of course Jon is irreplaceable. But Trevor has won my respect and admiration. He's smart and funny and insightful and I love his accent. I will have to read his book.
