(7,968 posts)It's a total smack down on 45 and his worldview. Beautifully done Francis.

I'm glad he's offering the world's most honored view of human values and vision for humans.
Lord knows this country's Trump and chumps need it bad.

(33,982 posts)And when I say 'his own' I mean his own personal bigotry, not just the bigoted dogma of the RCC as an institution. I mean HIS bigotry. He was quite outspoken on this issue when he was just a bishop in Argentina, and the country had a referendum on the ballot to legalize same sex marriage. Translating, he called the referendum a move by Satan to destroy the family. Way back in 2010. Wasn't even a candidate for Pope at that time.
But like most religious leaders he's big on 'do as I say, not as I do' thing. Talks a good game on wealth and capitalism at times, but his social game sucks.
Nothing has changed since at least John Paul II on this front.

All three, Paul, Ratzinger, and Francis spoke the same things about poverty, income inequality, and basic human rights. Friendly to us on economics, hostile to us on LGBTQ issues and women's rights.
