Apocalypse, how? A survival guide to the end of the world

We live in uncertain times. With global tensions escalating and unpredictable leaders like Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin in office, increasing numbers of people are turning to self-sufficiency as insurance against disaster.

Chat up some local homeless people. Those folks know how to survive on nothing but castoffs, which is what we'll have if Dolt45 blows up all the good stuff.

I have to laugh at survivalists, they've got a whole room full of ammo but no bandages or antibiotics.

Dumbest people on the planet.

The preppers I lived around in TN had bags of garlic and first aid kits stored in their shelters.

They'd probably be better off with capsules of garlic oil. Even that is perishable but not quite as perishable as garlic, itself. I also wouldn't rely on it for any sort of suppurating wound. It's best in cold and flu season because it discourages contagious people from getting too close to you.

During the Civil War medics used aged and fresh garlic to treat a variety of wounds from the battlefield. Similar stories about garlic's healing properties have been passed down by those as far back as ancient Egypt.

I wouldn't go as far as you in calling prepper's dumb. The ones I knew were more aware than anyone I've ever met. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with being prepared for situations like the ones described in the video.

I doubt I'd be talking to a homeless person about prepping- If the bombs fly they'll be the first incinerated in the blasts. Now, if they had a bomb shelter over their heads, instead of the sky, then it's possible I'd listen to them mumble about their survival skills.

Right now we are living in uncharted waters- Trump is a very unpredictable man with a lot to prove. And nuclear war is very possible under his regime.

Medical science was great at allowing them to survive the battlefield. Then it killed them with things like aged garlic.

lol

Yes, I've read about sepsis- You're acting like you'll be living the lap of luxury with endless supplies of antibiotics in your hypothetical world. How would people survive? They would revert back to what people used in the past- And sepsis would be one of the many ailments that would decrease our lifespans.

That's happening NOW, too!

The folks I knew had guns, yes- No MREs- Canned foods, rice, beans, etc...- and they also have underground shelters that sleep up to 10 people. If anything does go down they'll be the only ones who last.

I'm sure the intellectuals will be huddled in their Chomsky circle-jerks debating about Trump's decision to bomb the fuck out of the world. I can see them now sipping on their wine and eating their spray-can cheese. lol Those elitists. lol

everything from pneumonia to MRSA.

A simple Google search shows that garlic has been used to counter sepsis- How reliable are these sites? I'm not sure.

Living in a post-apocalyptic world would change everything about our daily lives. I'm sure the human race would persevere in a day and age without prescribed antibiotics. Our lifespans would probably be knocked down a few years, but we'd survive. Although, I'm not sure I'd want to live during a nuclear holocaust. lol

because the window to start treatment is small.

I survived it 8 years ago. It wouldn't have been a bad way to go, actually.

I've never been sick- I try to eat right and exercise.

I have a relative who has had constant problems with her body for years- She had sepsis and was hospitalized for 2 months. Fortunately modern medicine lent its healing hand out to save her.
