Bill Moyers Essay: Living Under the Gun
July 20, 2012

In a web-exclusive video essay, Bill Moyers says Friday’s deadly shooting in Colorado is yet another tragic indication that our society — and too many of our politicians — covet guns more than common sense or life itself. The National Rifle Association in particular, Bill says, “has turned the Second Amendment of the Constitution into a cruel and deadly hoax.”

people here in this country emotionally with some of the best propaganda ever, to push the sale of deadly weapons.

They know what buttons to push. And I'm sure by now they don't even worry about terrible tragedies like this having any affect on their 'business'. Because we all know that in a week or two, the media will have completely forgotten this tragedy and will move on leaving it to fade with all the other deadly massacres, into history.

And looking at the responses from gun advocates, the NRA doesn't even have to spend its own money to protect its right to keep on selling deadly weapons to anyone who wants them. They have been so successful in instilling the fear of losing rights that they have a whole army willing to defend the free flow of guns in this society.

Their lobby is powerful, they own Congress and the Presidency during an election year in particular. Arms dealers are the NRA, though a lot of NRA members don't fully realize this relationship.

The statistics that have been shared just this past day are reminding us that we must have campaign finance reform, because there is nothing in place that is working to tell the arms dealers, "it's over, Mo Fo."

Sometimes I think Bill Moyers is the last connection to sanity left in this country.
Thank you for sharing this marmar.
