We get lost in the time line sometimes.

Cronkite, as I have read, gave the final go ahead with this. CBS execs were worried about the timing (Sullivan was dying to get them on first - after missing on Elvis) so they went to Cronkite for his opinion "America needs to have some fun"was the basis of his response.

I watched this when it was first broadcast, and just now, for the first time, I noticed that you can barely hear John's singing. It's there, but the level is much lower than Paul's. Weird.....
