(18,402 posts)after watching this video. Her words near the end about kids and diversity and hope brought me to tears. (I was a volunteer for several year's in my daughter's high school college guidance center, and so these stories about hopes and dreams and every kid counting brought back many memories from the past about heart to hearts with so many of the kids in that inner-city school, as well as hope for the future.)
But my tears were also because of losing this amazing woman as a national figure in my life. She inspires me (even though she makes me feel so small!). I will miss the Obamas ... truly, madly, deeply. They have lifted me up so many times to remind me of the noble side of life. Dignity, determination, poise. Oh, what we are losing in this country.

And she will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night
And pay no worship to the garish sun.

(10,098 posts)I'm glad she spoke to the young people to have hope in the future. For an old cynic as myself, I have given up hope after this election. She has been the best First Lady in my life. She speaks from the heart, you cannot fake it, and to me she never has. Her speech at the convention was absolutely amazing.

(5,644 posts)When I read about the Obama's giving away the girls swingset it reminded me that they were two lovely young ladies now and had know need of it themselves for awhile. That makes me tearful. Everything is ending.
