(23,102 posts)Did they think they could just sneak this by the American public? It seems that way, passing this at midnight without telling anyone it was added to a bill? Then Ryan lies and defends this as "nothing to see here", then the restore the previous provisions. Repugs are cur dogs who love to attack and hurt the lower and working class, but who totally crumble and reverse themselves when caught in their treachery. This was just an initial shot at us, the real dangers will arrive very soon with repeal (slow destruction) of ACA, and gutting of Medicare and Social Security. Then after they've killed us, they will start handing out the goodies to the donor class, repeal of all environmental regulations and rules. So when people get pneumonia due to toxic air quality, they won't be able to afford to go to the hospital and will die at home or in the ER waiting room. I also expect they will invalidate the rules governing hospitals to make it so they aren't required to even triage the people without insurance. There is nothing so heinous that they won't do it, if they think they can get away with it by lying about it enough that it fools most of the sheeple.
Grim times are here folks, pay attention, make a huge fuss, protest, write letters, do everything possible to stop the 4th Reich from happening.

(13,616 posts)starts tweeting about how this looks bad, then you know that this was an arrogant and stupid decision. Course it also illustrates the horror of the next four years, the fact that will be stuck in between Donald Trump and Paul Ryan who will be fighting each other over who gets to do the next destructive thing,, that coincidentally makes billionaires richer.
The only silver lining to this is that the GOP will be able to remind everyone once again why they are unpopular. Even the folks in the hinterlands will feel the sting of this.

...GOP to return to it again after the public is distracted by some other Red herring.
My question is with all of Ryan's talk about still, still, still, be ethical, be independent and on and on and on, WHY GUT IT IF IT'S STILL THE SAME AS IT WAS???
66 million of us are still here Ryan and we're not hoodwinked fools like the 63 million minority that voter your GOP asses into power, so FU!! Leave our government's safeguards intact!

(54,384 posts)Their second move was to say, "WTF?? Y'all caught on to what we were up to THAT fast? Well, shit, then forget it, we'll try something else."
So they extracted the bullet from their collective foot, and will try something equally as odious, but more subtle, probably starting with this evening. Maybe renaming the EPA the "Environmental Polluting Authority."
