North Carolina: Breaking News. State GOP PowerPlay. (MSNBC Joy-Ann Reid)

Published on Dec 15, 2016
Rev. William Barber, president of Repairers of the Breach, talks with Joy-Ann Reid about North Carolina Republicans, having lost the governorship, using flood relief as an excuse for a special session to try to force through bills to weaken Democratic governing power.

What a mess! They are stripping as much power as they can from the Governorship, before the new Democratic Governor takes office. Listen starting at about 3-min into the video.

The real Americans of NC must resist this with civil disobedience and boycotts. We can't let these communist republicans to get away with this.

Resistance is not futile against the republican borgs.

“They will see me in court,” Roy Cooper said. “And they don’t have a very good track record there.”

Republican lawmakers hastily introduced Senate Bill 4 and House Bill 17 in the state legislature late Wednesday night. Both bills would heavily limit the governor’s power if passed. The incoming governor would not be able to make appointments to certain departments, the State Board of Elections would be effectively rendered useless and potentially unconstitutional bills would be more difficult to challenge in the courts.

But Cooper made it clear during a press conference on Thursday that if he believes any legislation pushed by the Republican-controlled state Congress is unconstitutional, he will sue the parties responsible.

I hope the people in NC keep up with their activism on this. A NC Dem Gov. (and a former Attorney Gen. that knows about suing for unconstitutional acts) is soooooo needed for NC. They have had a terrible time with radical politics.

of the US constitution.

Everybody in NC should read their state constitution. One clause in it states that anybody who does not believe in God is not eligible to be elected to office in NC.

Wow! I had a notion the extreme politics in NC was radical-right-christian-fundamentalists.
I thought the US had a separation of church & state. Did they hear about that one? Ha!

Wow, how did that one get by?
I think their entire State Constitution needs to be brought to the Supreme Court.
