As usual, covering their own asses after the voting public in red states rewarded them for incompetence and obstructionism.

There would have been another 5 million or so covered if Repubs hadn't blocked the Medicaid expansion. And most of those 5 million still blamed Democrats that a program, which their own reps prevented them from participating in, didn't help them.

I'm sorry, but I think red state repub voters have all succumbed to Stockholm Syndrome.

The real problem for Repubs is the restrictions on corporate medicine that attempt to limit their ability to exploit the sick and elderly for profit.

The fact is, if done right, this kind of health insurance reform would guarantee their profits, but at a lower rate than they want.

Hopefully, the Repubs overstep again, and the backlash will really punish the health care industry.

....that each would fail anyway.

With Ryan's comments in mind, it's almost too bad that we can't go back in time and have one of those votes succeed and see how republicans' heads would explode.

My gut feeling is that the reason they're now dragging their feet is that they know a vote to repeal would lose votes for each and every one of them.

Wishful thinking maybe, but the ACA ("Obamacare&quot is here to stay.

I tell you what let me have my Medicare (costs me $1200.00 a year plus $27 a month for my heart medication, going up to $33.00 a month), and let everyone else have it for $1200.00 a year, eliminate the for profit health care scams, and if that is not good enough, why don't you let us have your tax payer funded health insurance program, being paid by the taxpayers, because ass**** we are giving you a tax payer salary to "buy" insurance for your family and your staff, so if it is good enough for you why can't the citizens have it also------------------------

So in closing Ryan, FU and the horse you road in , you really are right wing fascist hypocrite Ayn Rand puke

14. Dems should demand Congress repeal its own gold health care plan, 75% taxpayer subsidized
Tue Dec 6, 2016, 02:13 PM
Dec 2016

, no matter what their income is.

The ACA required members of Congress to purchase ACA insurance but OPM quickly approved a special deal. This article blames the O admin but I'm skeptical that Obama wanted this golden plan for Congress:

http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/healthcare/242140-just-wrong-congress-quietly-takes-obamacare-waiver

snip: Many who were critical of this law felt the reality of ObamaCare would prove so painful for Congress--as it is for many citizens--that the law would quickly be re-opened, heavily amended or even repealed with Democrat’s help. But that calculation must have also occurred at the White House. The Administration quickly came forward with an illegal sweetheart waiver for Congress alone.

Congressional leaders from both parties quietly and gratefully accepted the special deal from the administration’s Office of Personnel Management. It gives legislators and staff “Gold Level” ObamaCare coverage with a 75 percent subsidy paid by taxpayers or even the option of opting out and retaining their previous heavily subsidized plan. The income of members and staff is simply not counted.

This is in direct violation of the specific language of the law Congress enacted. The White House broke its own law to provide Congress ObamaCare gold and then fraudulently administered it through the District of Columbia’s Small Business Healthcare Exchange. In order to get their waiver, representatives of the House and Senate signed documents, under penalty of perjury, that each body employed no more than 50 people. To date more than 13,000 members and staff have signed up with the help of another gift--a dedicated team assigned only to Congress. snip

They only intended to gut Obama. And the Democrats.

It was all a part of their "obstruct now, obfuscate later" strategy that won them the Congress and the White House last month.

Unfortunately, their hapless minions will allow themselves to believe that any ill consequences of Republicans being Republicans can be attributed to Democrats.

Tue Dec 6, 2016, 02:56 PM

But Republicans chose to do nothing when they had the power to make needed changes . It was a political calculation that paid off, like Ryan failing to bring legislation to the floor that would have funded the subsidies to the least among us. This was necessary because the Senate would have filibustered the bill and they couldn't filibuster because Senate rules do not allow for the filibuster in budget issues. Since the law had to be passed as a budgetary item to avoid a filibuster, it required yearly funding for the subsidies.
Without the government funding, the shortfall that should have been covered by legislation had to be covered by increased premiums to rate payers. The rate payers responded to the pain from the premium increases by blaming Obamacare. That was a key factor in Republican success on election day.
It was Ryan's deliberate and cynical political calculation that led to Republican gains. Hurting the working class never bothers Republicans as long as they can use their media megaphone to blame Democrats.

My husband had a job opportunity that unfortunately, did not come with health insurance as a benefit. The day after the election, we basically figured there was no way he could take the job with the risk of the ACA being gone or seriously gutted. So we told the employer we just couldn't take the risk.

Then we did a lot of second-guessing, really wanting to SOMEHOW find a way to make it work. Reconsidered all the options and did a lot of weighing pros and cons.

In the end, we still decided it was just too big of a risk - even though we could get ACA coverage for now, what would we do if the subsidies are gone in a year and we have to pay several times more for insurance? We would be screwed.

Now, I read this?? WTF! They are messing with our lives!!

God, I hate these GOP Fuckers.
