(45,523 posts)not that it matters. Jewish people probably care about things other than Israel. Kind of how Latinos care about things other than immigration, and African Americans don't all live in inner cities like Donald believes.
Curt Schilling and other Republicans should definitely continue to prove their bigotry every chance they get. Considering how well it's working out for them. It reminds me of when Republican congressman Curt Clawson of Florida asked some All-American US government officials about the policies of India, just because they had Indian heritage.
Republicanism kills brain cells.

(53,980 posts)Tapper was raised in the Jewish faith;[14] his father was from a Jewish family, while his mother, a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, converted from Presbyterianism to Judaism.[14] Wikipedia
Also, there is no "probably", Jews do, in fact, care about a many things other than Israel. While Israel may be important to many of us, like most Americans we are concerned with a plethora of issues, usually the same ones every other American finds concerning, from the economy to foreign relations, to healthcare and social justice.

(53,980 posts)Being a Jew is complicated. It is a ethno-religious group. There are "ethnic" components to being Jewish and there are religious ones, as well. In the strict religious sense, the 'faith' is passed down the mother's line. However, one can convert, and with advances in genetics, there is a component which can indicate one is "ethnically" Jewish. So, in short, someone born to a Jewish father but non-Jewish mother is "ethnically" Jewish, since she converted and he was raised Jewish, he is also "religiously" Jewish. It is the ethnic component which allows for the concept of an agnostic or atheist Jew. Clear as mud, right? It is these issues which can cause all kinds of problems with discussions, especially ones about Israel.
On edit: Thank you for acknowledging the complexity of the minority voter. I apologize for being short, but it is a trigger for me when the implication is that we (Jews) are not loyal to our native countries and are single-issue voters. I know that wasn't your intention, but it was my head space and why I emphasized us being Americans.

(2,252 posts)even though he helped to defeat my team in 2001 and 2004. I've only read about his recent post MLB creepiness lately. I hope Warren dices and slices this pile of manure and sends him and whatever number he wore directly to the hellfire hall of fame where he belongs.
