Before 18,500 at Ohio State, Hillary Clinton calls Trump 'an equal-opportunity insulter'

Those wondering how Hillary Clinton would respond to Donald Trump’s vulgar video and his debate performance didn’t have to wait long during a rally before thousands at Ohio State.

“Donald Trump spent his time last night attacking when he should have been apologizing,” she said a few minutes after taking the stage.

“We all heard on that tape what he thinks of women and how he treats women,” Clinton said as the crowd booed.

She noted his explanation that his crude language on the 11-year-old tape was mere locker-room banter. But Clinton pointed to professional football, baseball and basketball coaches and athletes coming forward to say that’s simply not true.

“I just happen to think that our athletes and coaches know a lot more about what happens in locker rooms than Donald Trump,” she said.

Before a crowd the campaign said the Secret Service estimated 18,500 when those watching from outside the secured area were counted, Clinton said, “It wasn’t just this one video that was so disturbing and shocking. We have seen this behavior throughout this entire campaign. … He’s targeted others as well.”

Today, Ohio was moved to "leans Democrat" from "leans Republican" by the much-watched Crystal Ball, run by the University of Virginia's Center for Politics. And fivethirtyeight.com now gives Clinton about a 60 percent chance of winning the state -- the reverse of just two weeks ago.

No poll of Ohio reflecting the period when the video was released has been made public yet. However, a national poll today taken by NBC-Wall Street Journal after the tape was unveiled showed Clinton ahead by 11 points, with 41 percent say Trump's language was "completely unacceptable."

The Clinton campaign said the Ohio today’s event is part of “an ongoing investment … in voter registration efforts to ensure Ohio’s electorate mirrors the coalition that helped President Obama carry the state in 2012 and 2008.”

One thing she might have matched from Obama’s 2012 campaign was the crowd of 15,000 he drew on the Oval on this same date four years ago.
