3. The Medicine Man of the Sioux

As Hunkpapa Lakota medicine man Sitting Bull once stated:

We have now to deal with another race--small and feeble when our fathers first met them, but now great and overbearing. Strangely enough they have a mind to till the soil and the love of possession is a disease with them. These people have made many rules that the rich may break but the poor may not. They take their tithes from the poor and weak to support the rich and those who rule.

and also

Crow Creek Sioux Tribal Chairman Brandon Sazue explained in a Facebook statement why he and his tribe were offering support:

We will stand with you, my relatives. Whether we are Native, white, African American, etc. Our water is our most precious resource along with our children. We must all stand together in this most urgent of times. This is not about race, but about the human race! What we do today will make a difference tomorrow! If there was ever a time to stand united, that time is now!

NO DAPL!!! (list of ways to help- updated 8/28/2016)
Updated 12 minutes ago
For the past few days, I've been experiencing a real sense of helplessness and sadness. I've emoted via posting dozens of articles and quotes about the recent news of the Dakota Access Pipelines receiving permission on all permits to build the pipeline directly north of my homelands, under the Missouri River.
Standing Rock is my home. My ancestors, my family, including our children have all grown up along the banks of the Missouri River. This is where we pray. Our sacred sites are here. Our ancestors are buried here. I hope to be buried here. I want this to be here for my grandchildren and for many more generations to come. I want to be able to pass this beautiful, pristine place to our future generations, so that they may also feel a deep connection to our homelands, Our Motherland.
During the past few days, I've been looking at pictures of home, and thinking how much I don't want it to be destroyed. The very thought is too disturbing to even imagine.
I realize that the rez seems like a faraway place to many people, and most mainstream Americans don't feel connected to Native America, which is the only reason I can understand why others are not alarmed.
What I don't understand is how people don't understand basic geography. The Missouri River is the largest tributary to the Mississippi River. Both river systems provides fresh water to millions of people whilst also providing water for the food most of the rest of the U.S. population eats. This pipeline while being laid in a place that is far away from many people's reality has the very real chance of affecting every person in this country.
If this pipeline is completed, two of this continent's largest fresh water sources will be contaminated thereby affecting every other fresh water source in North America.
If you are by any chance feeling motivated to do something, you'll find several ways to take action listed below:
1. Sacred Stone Camp Needs: http://sacredstonecamp.org/supply-list/

a. Tipis, Wall Tents, Yurts, Camping Stoves, Etc, can be ordered here: https://www.reliabletent.com/
b. To anyone thinking about donating to the Sacred Stone Camp/Očeti Šakowin camp. Donations have been pouring in daily but without proper storage space things are literally piling up. Shelving is very much needed and would be VERY appreciated. It is needed for the cold storage trailer and also the cook shack area. If you or anyone you know is looking to donate, please let them know shelving is high on the list of needed items! Thanks!

If anyone has any supplies or knows where we can get any supplies such as baby formula, baby blankets and clothes, more tents, blankets, jackets/sweaters, stocking caps, gloves, and any other cool weather clothes. It's been getting cold in the evenings and at night. Please keep the camp in your thoughts and prayers. So many people still at the camp, remaining in prayer.
d. Also if you can come and help cook, cut up food. and wash dishes and clean up at the cook shack that would be very appreciated. The cooks are going nonstop and need all the help they can get.
e. A lot of bottled water has been donated to the camp, but I think that reusable water bottles might be a more environmentally friendly donation. Especially the water bottles with the filters built in. People could refill their bottles and there would be no waste. Same goes for dishes. I carry a tote bag with cafeteria style trays for my family. Paid a dollar for each at the dollar store. We also carry Tupperware bowls for wateča. There are a lot of people being fed and I cringe a little inside when I see the Styrofoam donations. Anything donated is appreciated but this is just a suggestion for folks who are wanting to donate supplies.
f. Shipping address below
2. Supplies, cash, or check donations can be sent to:
Sacred Stone Camp
P.O. Box 1011
Fort Yates, ND 58538
3. (202) 456-1111 Call the White House today, work those lines, keep the pressure on to President Obama to rescind the Army Corps of Engineers Permit for the Dakota Access Pipeline. It violates the 1851 and 1868 treaties. Tell the White House very politely today. If it's busy, THAT'S A GOOD THING! Keep trying in that case. We got this!
4. Contribute to the Legal Defense Fund for Sacred Stone Camp: https://fundrazr.com/d19fAf
5. Contribute to the gofund account to financially assist those who are physically resisting by camping day in and out in prayerful resistance. https://www.gofundme.com/sacredstonecamp
6. 6. Official Standing Rock Sioux Tribe DAPL Donation Fund through PayPal. We thank you for your support! Donations will be used for legal, sanitary and emergency purposes!
http://standingrock.org/news/standing-rock-sioux-tribe--dakota-access-pipeline-donation-fund/
7. You could take 3 minutes to call the Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory office and demand that they reverse the permit! You can call: (202) 761-5903 and tell them:https://www.facebook.com/kimimila/posts/10153574424482721

11. 11. And finally, you can help us by educating everyone in your circle, especially if you are one of my friends who lives on the North American continent about the potential butterfly effect this may have.

My last thought, while this act is an example of environmental racism, the very people committing this act fail to realize that they are also shooting themselves in the foot.
