1. I don't care

The problem isn't protesting. It's people voting for the wrong person.

I think it's offensive to imply people should not protest to avoid giving any ammunition to the Republicans.

The problem is if people give some misguided credit to the Republicans because of Democratic protests.

Voting for Nixon because of issues with the 1968 convention was a huge mistake and should not be repeated.

There's an old American saying that we need to preserve and protect our freedom - that's why were' fighting for them. Not give them up to 'win'. Protest the convention if you want, and vote for Hillary in November, and don't let anyone say you shouldn't.

First, of course the Republicans deserve protest a lot more than the Democrats.

I don't know how many protested at the RNC.

One speculation: maybe they feel protest is more appropriate for their party but a waste of time against Republicans.

Another: maybe some of the protestors aren't Democrats and don't support Hillary (and probably not trump either).

Another: Maybe they're already at this convention and weren't at the Republican one.

I don't know.

4. Yeah, protest is SO un-American. Luckily nothing like Chicago '68 happened in Cleveland

The police were not whipped up by a Mayor Daley, nor were the protestor driven by the zeal of resisting a government that was sending them (us) off to die in rice fields on the other side of the world.

But if your implication for posting this (after the RNC and before the Dems convention) is that people should not protest, that that would spoil a nice, feel good unity fest, then I would find that offensive. Hopefully you had no such intention. People with grievances always have gone to where the news media is more likely to air them. It's the American way.

I saw none at the Republican convention. They will capitalize on any protests that take place during the Democratic Convention .. just wait and see. I wonder why?
