(111,339 posts)and we've seen disaster after disaster get elected because there was enough hate drummed up against hippies, against smart college dudes, against Ay-rabs, against women, and against just about everyone who isn't a hetero WASP male, preferably with a gun.
OK, so Stupid wasn't exactly elected either time, but it was close enough to steal, so they did.
This is what he's afraid of and this is what I'm afraid of.
Hillary Clinton has just as many negatives for low information voters as Trump has. It doesn't matter that hers are illusory, the low information voter is called that for a reason.
She's not going to coast in because he's nuts. She's going to have to fight for every vote she gets.

(160 posts)Bernie said one thing that every American that doesn't want to see Trump in the White House should take to heart....
If the turn out is around 70 million, Hillary wins... if the Demographics get out and vote Hillary wins....
If Hillary gets the same percentage of White voters as President Obama, she wins...
'Demography Favors the Democrats'
http://www.citylab.com/politics/2016/02/demography-favors-the-democrats/470937/
This article outlines 6 Demographic scenarios and in only 1 of the 6 does Trump win... and that scenario is if a higher percentage of white Americans support Trump than the support for President Obama....
Donald Trump will not be president: History, polling data and demographics all point to a single result
The reason was that Obama won the support of minority voters by even bigger margins. He carried 93 percent of African-American voters, 71 percent of Latino voters and 73 percent of Asian voters.
The electorates demographics will be even more unfavorable for the GOP in 2016. Nonwhite voters constituted 28 percent of the electorate in 2012, but in 2016 about 38 percent of Americans are minorities, which means the potential ceiling for minority turnout is extremely high.

And Hillary is doing better the non white demographics than President Obama did... she is doing better with white women than President Obama did and with college educated white Americans she beats Trump from 5 to 10% a demographic Romney won by 14 percent in 2012....
Bill Maher said it better than Moore... complacency..... the polls being close will drive Democrats out in November....

(35,367 posts)people that have felt betrayed by both parties that don't even think their vote matters. I think you are going to have a huge turn out of
anti-establishment voters this time. Look what happened with the Brexit vote, it caught everyone by surprise.

(160 posts)the white voter percentage in the UK is 87% white and in America about 63% is white....
The percentage of non-Hispanic white people in the U.S. population has reached an all-time low: 63%. That is 197.7 million white people out of 313.9 million Americans.
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/percentage-non-hispanic-whites-hits-all-time-63-article-1.1371772
Even allowing for just a typical seven percent to eight percent gender gap, that still means, as noted above, that Trumps share of white men would need to reach 70 percent in order to capture a majority of the popular vote. Thats higher even than the 68 percent of white guys won by Richard Nixon in 1972 and by Reagan in 1984, in their respective 49-state landslide re-elections.
So Trump needs 7 in 10 white men to over come the minority support for Hillary....
So I took a peek at Quinnippiacs most recent national polling, and it turns out that Trump is well short of that seven-in-10 mark. Trump beats Hillary Clinton by 57-31 among white males, and he beats Bernie Sanders by 55-35 among them. Interestingly, the other GOP candidates do around as well as Trump does against Clinton among that demographic.

The demographics don't favor Donald Trump... turnout is key ...
President Obama won in 2012 because he got 5 million more votes than Romney... President Obama beat McCain because he got 7 million more votes than McCain... people have to get out and vote
and if Democrats turn out the vote in 2016 Hillary will win.... because she will simply get more votes....

(35,367 posts)and I am seeing the same thing. I have yet to see one Hillary bumper sticker or sign on an Ohio car, I see more and more Trump
campaign signs, stickers, t-shirts and hats every day. We hear about this great ground game she has and that stuff doesn't matter.
I talk to middle class people everyday that have always voted Democratic and very few admit to supporting Hillary. Lets face it states like Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania have been devastated by the so called free trade deals. Then you add the gun issue in you lose more votes. Then there is the loss of all the coal mining jobs. Then you have all the negatives the Republicans have piled on Hillary the last 25 years and it doesn't look like any kind of shoe in by any means. I hope we are both wrong.
