There seems to be a real deficit in American's ability to do simple math.
Once again, the 2% growth rate is cited. Yet, if 125,000 new jobs are required to keep up with increased population, and monthly job numbers hover around 80,000, how is that growth?
Also, these numbers seem fairly ephemeral, since they are often revised downward. This is summer, a time of traditional expansion of jobs, due to seasonal factors. So these numbers are, in fact, far worse than they seem.
I think Krugman is correct, we are in a Depression, and the Powers That Be just don't want to acknowledge that fact.
