I quit when I was 39 and I had smoked for about 23 years. I am fortunate that I haven't gotten any tobacco-related diseases, but I can tell that I've done permanent damage to myself from smoking. I'm glad I quit when I did and my only regret is that I started in the first place. Tobacco companies set that hook in you deep, especially when they get you when you're just a kid.
