US presidential candidates: last of the big spenders

Recent figures show that for every dollar President Barack Obama's supporters spend, Republica candidate Mitt Romney's lay down eight.

Sheldon Adelson is one of the richest men in the world. He supported Newt Ginrich. Now he's backing Mitt Romney. His first contribution was ten million dollars. And he's not the only rich person helping out.

Obama's campaign, Trade unions and democrats hoped to raise more than one billion dollars in this election but the Republicans could top that. It could be a sign Democrats are disappointed in the president -- or there are more Republicans who want him out.

Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher reports from Washington.
