Senator Elizabeth Warrens name is being floated as a possible Vice Presidential candidate, but doing this would be a disaster for the Senate and would strip her of all the power that she currently has. Ring of Fires Farron Cousins discusses this.

(309 posts)...not sure she has to be VP to do it though. I want her to have REAL power, and the ability to draft legislation, serve on committees, etc.
She can certainly run for President as a Senator.

In recent years, the office of VP has hardly been what it was in McKinley's time though.
Elizabeth Warren is a grown up, and she'll make clear her preference. If she decides in favor of a VP spot, if offered, I'm sure they'll be lots of announcements about conspiracies, none of which will have any more credence than the current CT theories that have come to dominate political discussion, at least among two of the three candidates for President.
And no, the CT candidate is not the woman in the lead in the Democratic race.

(8,175 posts)Cannot tolerate Farron Cousins, but I do agree with the title. I think VP is a bad position for her to take. She has a lot more power where she is now. Or running for POTUS in the future.

(2,062 posts)She would not be powerless, she would be the 2nd highest leader in the country. I think she would be able to take on the bankers, healthcare, anything she wants. Although she is a good senator, as long as GOP is in control, sh has little power.

(262 posts)Elizabeth Warren knows what the hell is going on. If she is chosen as the VP she will not take it. Why?? Because in the Senate she has the ear of the Democratic Party and can lead the Senate. Bernie will also have a powerful voice once he's beaten cause we all know Hillary is the candidate unless by some hook or crook she's indicted over those e-mails. Warren is the perfect candidate for 2020. She would be a GREAT President!! Her progressive ideas would elevate the country and make the government serve the people. A better selection for Hillary might be Sherrod Brown of Ohio. He's a true Progressive and would serve well with Hillary. I hate to think of another VP like Biden. Joe's a good guy but, I know he couldn't lead the country. Sherrod Brown could if the case came about.
