If the Democrats walked out and didn't vote,
does that mean they can't get enough votes to pass it?

If they do pass the resolution, how does that affect Holder.
Does he get a spanking? What?

I'm sure by now I've missed a great deal but if someone can
give me a simple explain that would be wonderful.

OK I see the vote has passed but I still don't know what
it will mean.. continuing the search..

Unless the Senate ratifies the action of the House, it really means nothing. And the Senate would need 60 votes to ratify the House's Contempt of Congress citation, which isn't going to happen. Potentially, were both houses of Congress to find Holder in contempt, he could be arrested and tried.

I thought it didn't mean much except that the Republican
House is trying to avoid doing some real work. But the few
reports I saw were making it all sound terribly historical and
serious, problematic for Obama.
