Related: About this forumTYT: Sadly Not From The Onion - Texas GOP Against Thinking, & Voting Rights
"It seems more like a headline from the satirical newspaper The Onion, but the Republican Party of Texas recently published its party platform, a report that - among other things - calls for a ban on teaching critical thinking skills in Texas schools because of its "focus on behavior modification" that has "the purpose of challenging the student's fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority." That's just one of the many startling positions adopted by the state's Republican Party at its recent convention in Fort Worth...".* They also want to repeal the Voting Rights Act Of 1965. Cenk Uygur and Jayar Jackson discuss on The Young Turks.

texas republicans are in the bidness of winning elections. These platform planks appeal to fundamentalist voters--their base. That's why they're in there. Of course it's moronic. What do you expect in a culture that won't let Chomsky on TV but can't get enough of the 700 club and the Kardashians? As Franklin is supposed to have said: We've given you a republic. Let's see if you can keep it. Bwah ...! These idiots elected W twice. Then they gave him to the country at large, and those two elections were both close enough to steal with assistance of Scalia and Blackwell. Congratulations, Uhmurca. Happy birthday. See ya at "Walmart's."
