we also need to figure out how to sensitively promote anti-materialism to those who have never ever had anything.
it is not an easy thing to convince people that materialism equals slavery when it is promoted as a sign of success.
that can only be discovered by experiencing the burden of stuff.

I suspect that people who are more materialistic may actually have fewer children and in that way have less impact on the environment.

Are there any statistics on this?

I suppose a few people view having children as acquiring more material wealth, but in developed countries, children are a huge expense, so I think that the more materialistic among us value children less and have fewer of them.

Anyone have a different theory than I on this?
