I'm going to miss him, DEEPLY -- but we have a form of his work on Earth in his Genius based body of Music - he left his True Fans 4 Life!

that I can take consolation in at this point. I have been bingeing on his music since I heard the news on Friday when I got home from a run to the city. Everything was fine when I left and five hours later I get home to hear about this. I was devastated and numbed, then I started crying.

I went into town this afternoon to get lunch and found that many of my town-friends are also fans, some I never would have suspected! The PO, grocery and bar are where the town folk gather and so I went to the bar, where food is good too, and someone soon played the entire Purple Rain album on the juke machine. I went into the dark corner where the poker machines are and vacillated between dancing in my seat and crying... I also won $100! Then I came back home to finish listening to the tribute on the public radio station that Prince loved... they played the whole Prince catalog, 26 hours and then some extra stuff up to midnight Central time. There's more tomorrow, I think. But now that the snow has returned, I need to stoke up the wood stove and get some sleep. It's been a rough weekend.

You can't help but smile at this because he is in such total control and exhibiting so much mastery, both as a performer and as a musician. Just amazing.
