What’s causing a rising rate of suicide?

1. No lessening of day to day misery for millions,

in spite of economy 'appearing' to do well; such appearance has little to do with well-being of the people.

2. the economy stinks

people are working more and more for less and less, increasingly with no job security whatsoever.....yes, that will exacerbate mental health problems immensely

3. Our world is on a fast train to Hell

Because of a parasite called: humans.

They are unable to save themselves. Earth will survive in some form. Humans? Not so much.

Pretty depressing.

4. The baby boomers are hitting the age when they're invisible to teenage girls.

5. "Men have died from time to time, and worms have eaten them, but not for love. "

Men start creeping teenage girls out in their 30s, so it's not that.

Middle age is when you realize you're not going to get rich, when your body starts to screw up, when you start to struggle with speedups at work, and when you become socially isolated due to all sorts of external events.

Add to that a country that's as fucked up as this one is and it's a miracle most of us live through it.

6. Add to that the loss of a job or a messy divorce....

Too many people define themselves by what they do or have.

I knew someone who committed suicide after their wife died.
