A neighbor then opened the door, Zimmerman told police, and Zimmerman pleaded with him for help, but the neighbor backed away, saying he would call 911. "I said, 'No, help me. I need help,' " but the neighbor went inside.
Zimmerman then thought about his gun, worn in a holster on his waist, and felt his jacket move, he said. Trayvon spotted the gun too, he told police.
"He said, 'You're going to die, mother-*****," Zimmerman said. "I grabbed it, I grabbed my firearm and shot it."
Zimmerman says the teenager sat up after the shot and said "you got me" or something similar. He either fell off or Zimmerman pushed him off, Zimmerman said.

(30,885 posts)His whole testimony is basically a re-casting of the finale to "White Heat" with Trayvon in the Cagney role. The only part Zimmermaqn left out was something like "You'll never take me alive, copper."

...and a later witness who approach the pair during the final moments of their struggle.
What happened to these witnesses?
(...oh, and "White Heat" is one of my favorites! )

(23,295 posts)So, Trayvon stopped beating on him and gave him time to go the neighbor's house and plead for help, then he went back to where Trayvon was and got beat up some more?
I have one question. How close were they to Zimmerman's truck? Zimmerman claims he went back to his truck and Trayvon circled around and attacked him. If that is true, they would have been fairly close to his truck.
He was also "straddling" Trayvon when another witness came by, I assume in a standing position. If you had just shot someone, would you be standing over the body "straddling" it?

(12,041 posts)She sounds like someone Rush Limbaugh would hire, she claims Zimmerman never said anything to disparage Trayvon Martin ignoring the whole story he made up to try to frame Martin as a thug. She also calls Zimmerman's words the "most powerful evidence in the case yet" as if a guy who was just brought back to jail for lies told under oath is some extremely trustworthy source that should make us look past all the other evidence in the case. That had to be some of the worst "journalism" I have seen in some time, but I guess there is a reason I quit watching corporate news for the most part.
