1. She does everything but mention the deaths

that resulted from this failed program.

It's nice to have the background on the lunatic who's pushing the story but people died as a result and it shouldn't be dismissed.

She should be following the program from the Bush administration up until the deaths of the agents as well as anyone else who was killed by a Federal Program that allowed guns to be bought by known traffickers and cross into the border by our government

2. Finally someone keying in on the real issue.....

easy access to guns results in deaths. No more of this NRA crap, "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". If this nation would just tell the viloence and death industry to go to hell and develop real gun control, we and our neighbors would be a lot safer.

TBMASE makes a good point.

6. Those people would have likely been killed anyway. Had the cartels not bought the guns from f&f they

would have gotten them somewhere else in the states. If Darrel Issa and the GOP believe that people who sell guns bear responsibility for the deaths those guns cause... let them run on that and see how their gun nut supporters and their arms industry lobbyists and the NRA like it.

8. Oh, well if they would have been killed anyway who cares if it was by guns

that came as a result of a government program which specifically allowed guns from the US to go to the drug cartels?

The US Government ALLOWED the sales, watched them happen, then ALLOWED those guns to cross the border, watched them go but you think it's the fault of the gun stores who were working with the ATF?

This isn't some gun dealer who broke the law, this was a program put in place by our government.

11. But our government was making sure they got them

that's the problem.
Had it been a bunch of random idiots out there strawbuying guns and selling them to the mexican cartels it would be one thing.

This was our government, going back to 2006, that was actively making sure that US guns went across the border to the cartels. They might have well been selling them out of Military Armories.

This is our government arming drug lords, there's no excuse for that.

9. The program failed. Maybe it could never have succeeded, but it

certainly had nothing to do with the Second Amendment since Mexico presumably doesn't have the Second Amendment. This program was obviously intended to make it possible to identify and trace members of organized crime in Mexico.

Mexican gangs have nothing to do with the Second Amendment. What a crazy conspiracy theory.

Doesn't mean the idea of the gun sales was a good one. Just means that it had nothing to do with the Second Amendment or gun regulation in the US.

For the facts on what happened in the gun sales affair and the Obama administration, listen to the first hour of Randi Rhodes show yesterday, 06/20/12. She provided an excellent time line.

If this thing had anything to do with an anti-gun campaign, I think those of us who are active in Democratic politics would have heard about such a campaign. I personally favor requiring permits for guns if carried or stored in the city in which I live (very large city in which I live). But this is not a topic that has come up in any of my discussions with other Democrats at the local level. And I don't think I have heard any emphasis on it recently in other discussions of Democratic policy.

Democrats are more interested in the environment, education and jobs right now.

12. It's not about the second amendment

it's about our government actively arming drug cartels through a program designed to make sure illegal gun sales took place and that those guns were taken across the border.

If these guns were turning were going to US Cities and arming local gangs in Compton or Chicago, would Rachel be turning a blind eye to what our government was doing?

It started with Bush, this should be made public...every single detail of what our government was doing with regard to this program should be aired out and made public

Ok folks it's time we faced a hard fact.

Either the right wing lives in another reality.
Or
The reality we live in has somehow shifted into la la land.

And they are like this on everything, from global warming to vaginas.

showing the birth of the absurdity of crazy right wing thinking, & how desperate right wing politicians are to latch onto any fabrication that will help to bring down or even to just marginalize the Obama administration.

Sometimes I don't know when to stop laughing and start crying or stop crying and start laughing.
