We binge watched Merle videos last night. She said he had something like 38 number one hits in his career. I don't think he hit the big time until he was well into his 30s. Pretty impressive.

When that song Okie came out I was in Vietnam. I was one of those marijuana smoking, former long haired "hippies" that hated 'Merica enough to go and fight for her, unlike your CONservative REMF lifer or the many many many draft dodging cowardly chickenhawks, who never served, from the Republican party . I also saw an interview where he defended his song Okie. His one redeeming feature was his defense of the Dixie Chicks. But back to Vietnam, the song Okie was playing over and over again, as was "Fighting side of me" on all eight tracks and record players. I heard it too many times when the rare occasion arose that we were sent back to a secure rear area. Country music sucks and was, probably still is, very popular with lifers. So, sorry Merle Haggard sucks big time, along with Republicans and T'Billies..
