“They baked all of this stuff into the cake with those tax cuts, and a prescription drug plan that they didn’t pay for, and the wars. So all this stuff’s baked in, with all of the interest payments for it. It’s like somebody goes to a restaurant, orders a big steak dinner — martini, all that stuff — and then, just as you’re sitting down, they leave and accuse you of running up the tab.”

The "bridge to no where" was done under Republicans. There were lots of "drunken sailor" analogies at the time.

After it was obvious the Republicans lost their "fiscal responsibility" and National Security credentials and caused Wall Street to collapse with their deregulation they actually ANNOUNCED they were going to fall back on their "cheapskate" reputation because it's all they had left in their trick bag.

Back during the war in Iraq anyone who brought up the cost was dismissed by saying it was a tiny percentage of GDP. As if the government has access to the GDP especially when you are cutting taxes.

After Obama got in the entire Right Wing Media screamed about the National Debt as if it didn't exist before and the rest of the media fell in line.

It all goes back to the idea that it doesn't matter how many times Republicans lie, they are considered the "serious" ones that must be listened to over the Democrats who are considered to be a bunch of pot smoking hippies fresh off of a commune.
