Related: About this forumRepublicans Want NRA To Pick New Supreme Court Justice
Mitch McConnell has made it clear that his fellow Republicans wont even consider a hearing for a Supreme Court nominee unless the NRA approves of them first. Apparently McConnell never got the memo that the NRA is completely powerless in Washington, D.C. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses this.

They've been clinging to this fiction that Obama will only appoint communists to the Supreme Court, when everybody knows that a centrist who could be a lesbian is about as extreme left as he goes. Nobody's buying that bullshit anymore and they're starting to get some blowback for their little tantrum over the black guy getting an extra turn, so they're trying to deflect some of the blame to someone who doesn't have to worry about being re-elected. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was the NRA who hatched this little scheme.
