becomes "president," watch for a rollback of homosexual rights, women's rights (esp. abortion and access to contraception) - and gosh, a rollback of anything Trusted deems left of Attila the Hun.

And that doesn't even make sense, because historically, gays have been accepted in societies since the beginning of time. It was Christianity that changed that and made homosexuality a sin.

They want to go back to a time when things were simpler, when their values weren't under attack?

Simpler for them maybe, certainly not simpler for women who needed abortions, and not simpler for gays who were treated as non-citizens (often seen as deserving death) in many ways.

They can only see how things affect them personally...not how others are being affected by their morals and beliefs. They have no problem with ignoring the constitution and making this country a theocracy.

And then he says that gay marriage is not going to help the problems straight marraiges are having. Well duh! They have no relation to straight marriages. They can in no way hurt them either, so what is the problem?

He's trying SO hard to sound reasonable . He REALLY "doesn't get it" and probably never will, but is trying not to be hateful. And, right: Gay couples have been around for millenia: longer than today's "traditional marriage."

I think his cognitive dissonance was being short-circuited by an intruding subconscious.
