Erica Garner's Ad for Bernie Sanders: "It's Not Over"

In a heart-wrenching ad released online Thursday, Erica Garner makes the case that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is the only presidential candidate who is “going to listen and speak up” for victims of police brutality like her father.

“There’s no other person that is speaking about this,” Garner says in the ad. “People are dying. This is real. This is not TV. We need a president that’s going to talk about it.”

The four-minute video describes Garner’s role as a mother and activist, as well as the profound loss she felt after her father, Eric Garner, was killed by police after he was arrested and put in a chokehold for selling untaxed cigarettes in the summer of 2014 on Staten Island.

1. I can't help but dwell on the fact that racists and hate mongers are damaged people, some

of which seek out occupations which will give them power to act out on their sick world view. I think in the case of the police we are only seeing the festering on the surface. But I believe it is 100 times worse than what we can see.
