During Saturday nights debate, Donald Trump attacked President George W. Bushs war in Iraq, calling it a mistake. He avoided a question from CBS moderate John Dickerson about whether Bush shouldve been impeached, but insisted, They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction and there were none. And they knew there were none. There were no weapons mass destruction.
Trumps comments elicited boos from the audience:

(2,457 posts)I am not posting this as a right-wing troll. I have been a member of DU for years. I simply post this to show how a @#$%& up situation by the neocon death cult was even more @#$%& up than people realize.
Some time ago the NYT published a great article on a small caches of chemical weapons (but no active programs) found in various corners or Irag during GWB's invasion. They had not been stored properly, exposed to the elements and apparently well passed an effective "use by" date. Not literally, but the weapons had sat for so long that the chemical components in them degraded and effectiveness as chemical weapon was greatly compromised. It however did not mean that they weren't dangerous. The integrity of the munitions had degraded severely as well and they were slowly leaking. The weapons weren't handled properly. A number of soldiers were exposed. A number of these weapons were used in roadside bombs and other IEDs.
So why wasn't this all over the news? It gets complicated. The Pentagon didn't want to be embarrassed. The Pentagon didn't want to be responsible for soldiers ailments after the exposure. Lower ranked officers didn't want to make themselves look bad and didn't forward the information. A whole number of reason. Commanders were derelict in their duty. The list seems to go on and on.
Some speculate that these weapons, given their age, were likely produced with American help during the 1980's. One person who made such things possible was Don Rumsfeld himself.
Talk about a f$#@&d up situation. Yes we found chemical weapons in Irag.....which we helped S.H. make with dual-use tech and other sneaky exports to Iraq provided by the United States.
That would have looked beyond absurd!

But I have to say--I do enjoy watching Trump get into fights with these guys. Calling Cruz the liar he is was pure gold. But yes--Trump has his own problems. I feel like I have to take a shower after watching any of their debates or even highlights of their debates.
They all feel so...slimy.
