(2,902 posts)They throw away ballots by the thousands and get away with it since they require us to mail in ballots.

(6,409 posts)And it's no more likely to be thrown away just because it's mailed in. They can just as easily trash it in a traditional go-to-the-polls election. And you can go back after the election to see if your ballot was counted.
I have hand delivered the ballot and still not had it counted.
Also, here in King County (Seattle), there's a nice web site you can check to see if your vote was thrown away:
https://info.kingcounty.gov/elections/ballottracker.aspx
Last time I checked, 7% of the ballots they admitted to receiving weren't counted. There's no telling how many additional ballots weren't even counted towards that 7%.

(6,409 posts)For 35 years, we have been working on the presidency and surrendering all other offices to the Republicans. When they control so many state legislatures and governors' offices, they can purge the voter rolls whenever they please, for any reason they care to invent. Voter ID laws are no problem for them when they are essentially unchallenged.

The Republicans rule the roost when they are in the minority
and they rule the roost when they are in the majority.

(2,493 posts)I've done a bit of work on voting rights, but certainly am a novice. I hear Republicans complaining about voter fraud, and Democrats complaining about voter suppression, and really wonder if either happens. I'm pretty certain that voter fraud doesn't, so is there evidence (actual evidence) for voter suppression?
And on edit, can someone point me to an election the Democrats lost because of suppression?

Thom Hartmann and Brad Friedman do a solid analysis of suppression here-
