Showing just what an incredible musician and singer he was. I wish he could still sing and play like this. I miss him. He's still kicking and performing, but he doesn't have THIS any more.

(182,829 posts)Really good show. No he can't hit the same notes but that unique sound on his guitar is still there.

(1,554 posts)Actually got to meet him a few times as I was a friend of his daughter when we both lived out west in a ski town. Extremely humble and nice man, taller than I expected, as well.
Anywho, great song, and era!

(658 posts)But... he's still great. Saw him on Seven Colbert Late Night about a month or so a go. Still wonderful. Great musician, great singer, GREAT song writer.
On Edit...
You scared the shit out of me. With all of the greats dying off lately, your post made me fear that JT had died. Don't do that again. LOL.

(8,175 posts)I saw him somewhere recently (can't remember what program it was...maybe OPB or NPR?), and I was surprised and how small his voice seemed and even his guitar was hard to hear. It also seemed like he had trouble hitting his notes and staying on tune. I'm not sure what program...but it made me realize how old he was. And they were talking about a new album he was just releasing, and I could only imagine that in the studio they can fix things that they can't fix on an open stage and mic.
Plus the songs he sang were kind of tired too. Not as good as his old stuff. It just didn't seem like him anymore. I've seen him twice, live, but even then he was pretty much playing his commercial successes and there wasn't the beautiful music that he incorporated in this piece. I wish I was into him when he was young. I didn't really discover him till I was in my 30's and he's a year and a half older than I am.
I'll have to keep my eyes open for him again...maybe it was just a bad set.
