Jimi Hendrix, Electric Church PURPLE HAZE, Atlanta Pop Festival Documentary

'Purple Haze' from the film chronicle of Hendrix' largest US performance at the Atlanta Pop Festival, July 4th holiday, 1970. Rare footage of Jimi, first act artist and the mass summer music festival that's remained unseen for thirty years. Now showing on Dish TV Channel TCMXW. Just caught the last 45 minutes, amazing. The documentary trailer is online.

I really wish I could have seen the great Hendrix in concert, but alas, I was too young. When he died in September 18, 1970, I was only sixteen. But I went to my first concert that year, Ten Years After.

In stark contrast, my second concert was "Whispering" Bill Anderson. LOL. My brother gave me the tickets for my birthday.

Who didn't want to see Elvis?

Unfortunately I too missed seeing Johnny Cash live.

I have however experienced this phenomenon.

couldn't make it to the Elvis concert. Willy Nelson would be great to see for sure. We saw Dylan in DC, and Prince, both fantastic and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin who was magnificent. Also Herbie Hancock, James Brown, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Brown, Bryan Adams, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Robert Palmer, Frank Sinatra and others that were amazing. Because everyone in my family and most close friends loved music we were fortunate to catch many artists on tour.
