TYT: Republicans Question Ted Cruz's Citizenship

Last night TYT made a Final Judgment segment where we concluded that Ted Cruz is eligible to be President of the United States. Not capable or qualified, but eligible. A growing number of Republicans are now disagreeing. Ben Mankiewicz (Turner Classic Movies) and John Iadarola (ThinkTank), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said Wednesday that GOP rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was qualified to be the prime minister of Canada, but dodged answering directly whether he thought Cruz was qualified for the United States presidency…

Paul was asked about Cruz during an interview with the radio show, "Kilmeade and Friends."

“You know, I think without question he is qualified and would make the cut to be prime minister of Canada," Paul said. "Absolutely without question, he is qualified and he meets the qualifications."

When asked to clarify his stance, Paul said he wasn't an expert on the Constitution.”*

His mother was a US citizen, end of story. Republicans seem to have an obsession with this kind of thing.

Not that I think he's in any way qualified, just that he's legally eligible.

They'll use it against any competition, regardless.

he wouldn't have to be trying to debase Ted Cruz.

Cruz is more dangerous because he appeals to the hopelessly insane fundies. So does Trump, and even Ben Carson.

You have to go through a lot of really bad Republican presidential candidates to get to Rand Paul, who's also pretty bad.

The insane fundies who are going to vote for Cruz don't care much where he was born because a lot of them think God selected Ted to be the next president. Republicans generally aren't good at geography. The fundie base in particular aren't good at it in part because they don't care about it. A good many of them know that Mexico is south of us and Canada is north. After that I doubt if they have a much more clinical picture of either nation or its culture.

All they hear is Ted talking crazy talk and that's essentially all they want to hear.

tribe was on last word and said an eminent constitutional law professer wrote a 300 page work on the subject with 500 foot notes and came up with the conclusion it is unsettled law. the 1795 law amends the 1790 naturalization act to remove the words natural born from naturalization act.
