The leading presidential candidates on both the Democratic and Republican side can agree on one issue: freedom of speech on the internet isn’t that big of a deal. They basically think terrorism means giving up some fundamental rights. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Shut off their means of communicating? These tools are tools that everyone uses -- and, in fact, which Hillary Clinton herself did a tremendous amount of (good) work helping to spread around the globe as Secretary of State. And now she's trying to cut it all off?”*

Granted, she is not calling for the destruction of internet hardware, but what does her statement mean? What are the likely courses of action she will take? It's either a completely meaningless statement, only designed to project "toughness," or she's going to lock up at least some communication. Terrorists will find another way to communicate. Furthermore, terrorism is by far not a leading cause of death in this country, and clamping down on internet communication is fucking stupid. More to the point it's pure pandering.
