Between deforestation to feed 7+ billion of us and acidification of the oceans decreasing oxygen producing plankton, the line from "Interstellar" would seem to be prophetic: "The last to starve will be the first to suffocate."

The one major action to take is one men will resist, raising the status of women is the only way proven to drop a high birthrate into a less than replacement level, something this planet is going to need for a very long time to come.
