America Is Far Too Stupid For Its Own Good

The average American can barely name a Supreme Court justice. They think Saddam Hussein was involved with 9/11. Too many voters still think that they might run into Bigfoot on their way to the polls. Believe it or not, this is actually a major problem for democracy.

Ring of Fire's Mike Papantonio and author CJ Werleman explain why this is such a problem.

forty years in the making and continues, unabated, even now. The rest of us are beyond screwed because of it.

The only salvaging will be in how the various smaller states which emerge in the aftermath, structure their governments and economies...

Face it, the corporate takeover of all our media has been a very bad idea for the American people. While yellow journalism and propaganda have always existed, a variety of sources always made sure that some correct information always got through.

These days, unless you're net savvy and especially if you don't read more than one language, you're up shit creek when it comes to knowing what's going on in the world.

Yeap. Absolutely. If you look at the so-called experts and pundits on CNN or any other cable news network talking and projecting about politics, and REALLY look, it's obvious. They're not there to question the power. They wanna be part of it. I like the term Chris Hedges uses, the "courtiers" for the powerful, but lately, even that feels like a fancy term. They're just wannabes. It's pathetic.

Part of the problem may be home schooled kids. If 25% of the population believes a certain things that might be due to those people being home schooled. The government cannot do anything about home schooled kids. However, the leaders of schools and school districts need to make sure that students are learning about the founding fathers, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and American History. How many kids in America actually read The Constitution, or the Declaration of Independence. How many kids in America learn the names and thoughts of the founding fathers? It should be mandatory for all American students who attend public schools to read The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution, learn the names and thoughts of the founding fathers, and learn the names and policies of all American Presidents.

Rush Limbaugh said on his radio program that climate science is a hoax.

There's nothing wrong with that statement; Rush Limbaugh has said on his radio program that climate science is a hoax and has said it often. A recent example:

[/center]
I don't really have a problem with pointing out that he said that. I have a problem with saying that and not pointing out that he's either a liar or a scientifically illiterate idiot. I have a real problem with extending it into a five-or-ten minute discussion about whether or not this is "all made up," as Limbaugh says. That is five or ten minutes of air time that could be devoted to the cause of climate change (use of carbon based energy sources) and its effect (drying up of farm land in the Middle East, for example, of which the further effect is the exacerbation of armed civil conflict) or the causes and effects of income inequality. I don't care what conspiracy theories Rush Limbaugh is spreading. Climate change, drought and increasing poverty are real news and I want to hear more about that.

I killed my television when CNN started giving me all Bill Clinton fucked Monica Lewinsky all the time and the rest of the MSM followed suit. Killing your tee vee set is best response to this kind of nonsense.

I mean, he's either fictional - or sharp enough to hide from human sight for at least the last several hundred years.

You gotta respect that.

I am always amazed when I discuss politics and say something about the basic purposes of the 3 branches of our federal government without giving out the HS level blurbs on what the 3 branches basically do. Often there are blank stares around me. Really sad to watch. IMO, there are many U.S. natural born citizens who could not pass the Citizenship Exam.
