(41,140 posts)of the UN Climate Summit COP 21, thousands defied the Paris security ban on protests and marches to sound the alarm of Global Climate Crisis on Sunday the day before the summit opening. A Human Chain formed by tens of thousands of people stretched for blocks.
After the solidarity chain event, thousands of Paris and international activists tried to march through the streets and were faced by riot police who arrested more than 200 protesters.

(86,643 posts)and amazing and I have been a fan of hers since the first I heard of her. Articulate, intelligent and correct.
I was going to load the France24 page to see what they're saying too.
Cheers

(41,140 posts)I hope substantial commitments come out of the Paris Summit, the climate matter is urgent. Occasionally I follow France 24, caught it earlier today. Love all things French and Vive la France!
150 world government leaders and officials are at the Summit. They can enjoy some delights of Paris if they work hard!

(86,643 posts)I stumbled upon France 24 after the Paris attack but am finding it quite a satisfactory news source. They are covering the COP21 events almost full time. Of course it's late at night right now over there but I saw a few interesting news segments. One particular segment had a guy w/laptop who showed those ads all along the streets, some discussion about Naomi Klein's live coverage with good words for her, and discussion about how the disruptors at the protest were assholes and disrespectful by even throwing shoes used for the silent protest... "I mean, that's really low isn't it?" said the anchor.
And they have some special long programs covering the summit or whatever they're calling it.
Think I'll have it on a lot for the next couple weeks.
I too, love France and its culture, have been enamored since I was very young.
