TYT: France INCREASES Syrian Refugee Intake After Paris Attacks

French and American politicians are responding to the Paris attacks in a variety of different ways in regard to future willingness to take in Syrian refugees. France shows us how it’s done. John Iadarola (Think Tank) and Elliot Hill (The Lip TV), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

"French President Francois Hollande promised to honor his commitment to take in tens of thousands of refugees on Wednesday. He said France would do so despite concerns raised by ultra-right nationalist leaders that refugees might pose a security threat to the country.
“Some people say the tragic events of the last few days have sown doubts in their minds,” Hollande said, but added that it is a “humanitarian duty” to help the throngs of refugees who have landed on European shores after fleeing conflict and hardship in countries like Syria and Afghanistan.
In a speech to mayors from around France, Hollande said France would welcome 30,000 refugees over the next two years. That’s even more than the 24,000 he committed to accepting in September.
Hollande said that he would invest about $53.3 million to develop housing for refugees.”*

I'd like to see Hollande stop killing innocent people in Syria. Thousands of innocents have been killed and injured by French bombs, and more are being killed and injured right now in France's vengeance flights, and France has been active or complicit in the destabilization of the Middle East, which has resulted in the flood of refugees. I'd like to see him--and President Obama and others--acknowledge the murderous injustice of Western policies that have resulted in the deaths or impoverishment of millions of people, and the destruction of any decent government that has arisen, in the Middle East, for more than half a century. And of course I would like to see an end to these hypocritical, greed-driven, power-driven, horribly destructive policies and actions.

Having said that, Hollande's acceptance of an increased number of refugees, and committing money to their welfare, strikes me as impressive, and, indeed, amazing. I am so glad that he is doing this. At the least it shows that France's response to the attacks on Paris will not be entirely vengeance-driven with yet more violence and destruction in the country that is currently bleeding refugees. It is also an example to other countries, as to refugees, and it bodes well for international action to stop the Syrian civil war. It will not right more than half a century of terrible wrongs, but it IS something--a surprisingly good decision--and Hollande is doing it at considerable political risk.

I believe he is an inspiration to mankind in this regard and a true leader rather than just a poll washer. Thank you, Monsieur Hollande.

Would that the craven American RW would learn from this example of solidarity and humanity.
