Sam talks about how present-day crazy and stupid in the Republican party can be traced directly back to Sarah Palin. Also a woman interviews her and calls her a loser and basically pathetic.

(1,254 posts)in that interview? She sounds like it. Its amazing how similar Palin, Trump and Carson are. They seem to share the same idiotic ramblings. I wonder if Palin and Carson suffer somewhat from what is described as substance induced psychosis. LOL, note ALL the medications that can induce psychotic behavior.

(45,984 posts)Right wing crazy was not new to the GOP in 2008. Even Sam's remark about McCain picking Mrs. Palin for Veep was made to bring out the GOP voters assumes there was already a Republican right wing culture of racism, misogyny, gun worship and sectarian bigotry. Before there was Sarah Palin there was Bush the Frat Boy and the Big Dick, before the Frat Boy there was Jesse Helms, before Jesse Helms there was the John Birch Society. Along the way, Ronald Reagan was never the sober conservative he's often painted as nowadays; he only looks that way compared to the Frat Boy. There was Newtie the Cutie. There was the anti-civil libertarian Nixon and the anti-intellectual Spiro Agnew.
That just covers my lifetime.
Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Ted Cruz are just the new manifestations of a GOP tradition that goes back a long, long time.
